For Parents
Dear Parent/Guardian:
On behalf of the Miracle League Board of Directors and the Sioux Empire Baseball Association, I would like to welcome our players, parents, ball buddies, and coaches to the second season of the Miracle League. The Miracle League is a non-competitive co-ed baseball league whose mission is to provide children with special needs an opportunity to play baseball, regardless of their ability.
A primary concern of the Miracle League is safely and player enjoyment. With the financial assistance from community members, the Miracle League has its own specially-designed field. The field is custom made with cushioned rubber that prevents injuries, yet is totally accessible for children with wheelchairs or walkers. In addition, dugouts are barrier-free.
Assisting our Miracle League participants again in 2009 will be our ball buddies. Ball buddies are typically children, teens, or adults without disabilities who play baseball, are involved with local charity organizations, or simply looking to serve the community. Their role is to assist our Miracle League participants during games and ensure that all players have a safe and enjoyable game experience. As a result, players, parents, and ball buddies are brought together to enjoy the game of baseball.
Someone once remarked that the game of baseball is very much like life. Watch it closely, and you will learn about things like courage, beauty, strength, chance, fallibility, finesse, and loyalty. I am confident that you will see all of these displayed during your child's participation in the Miracle League. Thank you for becoming a part of our program. I trust that the Miracle League will be a great experience for you and your child. Best wishes for a great season!
Sincerely,
Lyle Smith
Executive Director
Sioux Empire Baseball Association
