Dear Parent/Guardian:
On behalf of the Miracle League Board of Directors and the Sioux Empire Baseball Association, we would like to welcome our Players, Parents, Ball Buddies and Coaches to the inaugural season of the Miracle League. The Miracle League is a non-completive co-ed baseball league whose mission is to provide children with special needs an opportunity to play baseball regardless of their ability.
A primary concern of the Miracle League is safety and player enjoyment. With the financial assistance of members of our community, The Miracle League will have its own specially designed field. The field will be custom designed with cushioned rubber that will prevent injuries yet be totally accessible for children in wheelchairs and walkers. In addition, dugouts will be barrier-free.
Assisting our Miracle League participants, the League will feature “Ball Buddies” for each Miracle League player. "Ball Buddies" are typically kids without disabilities who play baseball, local youth church groups, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, to mention a few. As a result, the parents, players and volunteers are all brought together to enjoy the game of baseball.
Finally, I encourage parents and coaches to review the information in this packet to familiarize themselves with the procedures and policies that we will utilize for the Miracle League program. Please free to communicate any questions or concerns that you may have. I trust you will see this as an extremely rewarding program for everyone involved as well as a way to enhance our community by providing recreational opportunities for kids with disabilities.
